A little bit of a Big Update

Hello again, world. God has been having a good laugh with us, I think. Every adoption process has been so unique, and they have each had their fair share of agony. This time around it seems that the request for our fingerprint clearances has gotten lost. I remember putting it in the mail, but after that it went missing. I probably misaddressed it, but why hasn't it come back to me yet? Is it possible that I misaddressed my own return address, too? Yes. It is is definitely possible.
So here we are all home study ready, except for those fingerprints, and our agency calls to tell us that they have a baby boy for us. He is 6 weeks old and we can take him into our custody as soon as we get our fingerprints. Since the state he is in, Florida, is a lot faster about fingerprints, we've decided to just redo them there on Monday, so hopefully we'll be taking custody of our new baby boy on Tuesday or Wednesday. So at the moment we are preparing for another crazy drive from the snowy North the sunny South. Ah, I love the birthplaces of all my children. We are leaving on Saturday night and hope to make the 22 hour drive straight through! With THREE kids in the car! I know #1 and #2 will be fine, they are hopelessly addicted to movies in the car (kid crack, as a friend calls it) and junk food. But I am not sure #3 will be all too excited about it. She isn't that into movies, but she is really digging this new crawling thing she has been doing. And one finds it difficult to crawl in one's car seat. It will be fun (and I use that word loosely) to see how she handles the trip.

We are really looking forward to the joy of meeting our new son, and getting to know him. It is a stressful time, but we can't help but marvel at the mercies of God. This very well could be the last time we do this and I am trying to soak it all in. I can't wait to be holed up in rental house with a little private pool with my favorite people in the world.

So, that is our big update!

Oh! And his name is Martin James, after St. M.artin de Porre.s and his grandpa. :)

K,
Congratulations! So happy for you guys! Would you shoot me an email when you have a free minute (ha!). I'm curious which agency you use. As things continue to become more difficult in ET I sometimes think about going the domestic route if we start the process again.

Congrats again.

This is the BEST news!!! I'm *loving* how suddenly God has His foot on the accelerator. Whiplash anyone?! Happy and safe travels...I'm always amazed at how well our kids have done on long car trips that I had been dreading. Only once have I had to resort to a small dose of Benadryl. (Please don't judge.)

Prayers for all your needs and intentions along the way!
